Rolland Baker

Rolland and his wife, Heidi Baker, began Iris Global (previously Iris Ministries) in 1980 and have been missionaries since then. Currently Iris has over 35 bases in about 20 nations led by teams of missionaries and local leaders. Rolland holds a PhD degree in theology and ministers in great spiritual power. The deaf hear, the blind see, and the poor hear good news. In preparation for the conference, you may read the books that he has written with his Heidi, his wife. They can stretch the faith of most of us: “learning to Love”, “Always Enough”, “Compelled by Love”, “Expecting Miracles”, etc.

Barry Manuel

Barry is an ordained Baptist pastor who for twenty-eight years led the Morphett Vale Baptist Church and experienced a major move of the Holy Spirit in 1995. This led to the hosting of conference at which Rolland and Heidi Baker were also speakers. With his wife Janet, he is currently leading a new ministry (Healing Life Ministries) with a focus on healing for the whole person.  Barry is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at the Adelaide College of Divinity, which is in partnership with the Department of Theology of Flinders University, Adelaide.

Edgar Mayer

Dr Edgar Mayer is an ordained minister of the Lutheran Church of Australia and has served as the pastor of Living Grace Lutheran Church in Toowoomba, Australia for the past twenty years. Edgar graduated from the Australian Lutheran College in Adelaide and completed doctoral studies in Germany, where he was born. Edgar and his wife Tatjana, are blessed with two daughters, Dominique and Francisca. He is the author of the books ‘Surprised by the the Holy Spirit‘ and ‘Surprised by Miracles‘. He is  also the Chairperson of Lutheran Renewal.

John Alley

John Alley is the Senior Minister of Peace Christian Community in Rockhampton and regularly conducts apostolic schools and conferences to equip and release believers to serve the body of Christ and to advance the renewal of the church. John’s latest book “The City Gate: The Prosperity & Protection of Cities & Churches” has just been published. It is thought-provoking and raises “the subject of a much needed conversation between us all”.

Aim of the Conference

The aim of the conference is to receive an “apostolic mantle” (a mantle of authority by the Spirit of God) for Australia. Rolland Baker, together with his wife Heidi, is carrying one for the nation of Mozambique (and they reach many other nations) and, at the conference, we want to be on a journey of humbling ourselves and exercising faith for an impartation of what God has placed on Rolland.
Lutheran Renewal is a national renewal movement within the Lutheran Church of Australia and twice – at key junctures – God led us into repentance and made us specifically repent of looking down on Pentecostals, especially what came to be known as the “Toronto Blessing”. We will tell more of the story at the conference.
God has been teaching us a lesson on Christian unity and its blessings. We know that we are unlikely candidates to invite and encourage others to share in repentance and unity because we have such a troubled track record on unity even with fellow Lutherans. But this is probably God’s sense of humour.
Which church or denomination do you keep at a distance? You may even have issues with Lutherans but none of us are perfect and we believe that there is no advancement into the fullness of God without humbling ourselves and repenting of our disunity.
The journey is worth it. God give us a heart and grace for our nation, Australia. In addition we want to stand together with our overseas guests and believe with them for their nations.
John 17:20-23 [NIV]: “… I pray … that all of them may be one …
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one … they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
1 Corinthians 3:16 [AMP]: Do you not discern and understand that you [the whole church at Corinth] are God’s temple (His sanctuary), and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you [to be at home in you, collectively as a church and also individually]?
1 John 2:9-11 [NIV]: … Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.
Ephesians 4:3-13 [NIV]:  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace … until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

The aim of Lutheran Renewal is to make known what God is doing amongst us.  This website and the Lutheran Renewal Newsletter are places where testimonies can be shared and our faith built up.  Lutheran Renewal is not a formal organisation within the LCA. We simply choose to relate to one another and support each other.
